At Dirk Mermans, innovation starts with the practical needs of our nursery. One example is Lucien, our plant-handling robot developed by Instar Robotics. Lucien helps us move and space plants more efficiently, while reducing repetitive physical work for our team.

What makes this project especially valuable is that it goes beyond simply using a robot. Together with Instar Robotics, we explore how automation can be adapted to the specific reality of our nursery, with its larger pot sizes, long cultivation cycles and practical day-to-day challenges. In this way, robotics becomes a tool that supports both our plants and our people.
